Hello, new members, and welcome to AntiReality! This is just a basic thread I thought I'd put up to help you all out and give you a basic idea as to what to post.
Making your intro thread:
First off, your name! Yes, we know it shows up on your post but it's only polite to introduce yourself in the intro thread... it's what it's for after all.
About you-- tell us something about you. It doesn't have to be super detailed or personal, just whatever you are comfortable with saying... could be as simple as "I like fps games". Whatever.
Posting outside of Newbie Cove: Since Newbie Cove is pretty much just for intro threads, the rest of your time here will be out in the other forums. Before heading into those areas I recommend checking out these simple rules of board etiquette:
1) Be respectful. Nobody likes a jerk, so please don't be rude. Sarcasm is fine, but don't let it get to the point that fights break out. Flaming in any form is NOT allowed.
2) No AIM-speak please. We don't ask that you're posts be worthy of Pulitzer prizes or anything, but please spell out your words and try to spell them right. It makes reading your posts a lot easier.
3) Please don't bump old threads. I forget off hand if we've established an age limit on posts but the general rule of thumb is that if it is on a second page then do not post in it at all. If it's older than a month or so and you have something significant to add to the discussion and on the first page then generally it's fine. However, if you're just gonna post "me too" or something to bump your post count you might be better off looking for a more active thead.
4) Try to have substance to your posts. Joking around in posts is all well and good, but do try to have more to your posts than "yeah" or "me too". At least try for one complete sentence. That's all that I ask.
Anyway, that is really all that I can think of for now. Again, welcome to the board and I hope that you have a great time. If you have any questions or need help with the site please feel free to contact members of the staff and we will do what we can to help you out.
Age limit? What a load of shit. Seriously, it is not right to prevent younger posters from posting. Maybe if they flame, but younger people in general is just wrong.
wow Rasen.... way to take offence to something in a completely wrong way.
"I forget off hand if we've established an age limit on posts but the general rule of thumb is that if it is on a second page then do not post in it at all."
Unless I'm completely insane I think she means that don't bump old threads.... that's all. But way to jump to your typical conclusion that we are discriminating against younger members!
Sorry if the language was a bit unclear. But yeah, I highly doubt we could verify people's real ages here. But yeah, I figured that we needed something like this up to kinda give new members a push in the right direction since I didn't see a FAQ or anything.
